A new level of care
Bentley Chiropractic gives the body what it needs to function to its fullest potential. We don't just mask the problem - we aim to find the root cause of your pain and dysfunction so we can provide a natural alternative to health care.
How I can help
Restore mobility to stiff joints caused by prolonged sitting, improper movement, repetitive motions, injury, and more.
Pain is your nervous system's signal you're not at 100%. We can help find the source and address the problem directly.
Your immune system is only as strong as your nervous system. We help restore both so that your body is equipped to protect itself.
All health and disease start in the gut! We can aid your body's ability to absorb nutrients - helping with IBS, acid reflux, nausea, indigestion, and more.
There are many types of headaches and they're all treated differently. We can help you find relief from migraines, digestive headaches, and hormonal headaches.
Many complex neurological conditions can be improved by resolving nerve irritation, including Bell's Palsy, trigeminal neuralgia, epilepsy, and diabetic neuropathy.
Dr. Matthew Bentley
I was born and raised in Grapevine, TX, which is a suburb in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metropolitan area.
I became the first person in my family to graduate from college in 2018 when I earned my a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Harding University in Searcy, AR. Afterward, I followed my wife, Liz, to Syracuse, NY so that she could pursue a master's degree.
During that time, I decided on a career in chiropractic care after a chiropractor helped me find relief for the lower-back pain that had affected me for nearly a decade. Soon after that, we moved to St. Louis, where I completed my Doctor of Chiropractic at Logan University in 2023.
While at Logan University, I specialized in the Gonstead Method, which I learned through classes and an internship with Dr. Cranwell - an expert in the field who learned the method directly from Dr. Gonstead himself.
I now live in Alton, IL, with my wife, Liz, and our 65 lb. pit bull, Petunia. In my free time, I enjoy watching television, doing yard work, renovating our 124-year-old home, going to the gym, and spending as much time as possible outside.
What to expect
Dr. Bentley will get a comprehensive medical history. The goal here is to understand any current or past health concerns along with any major events so that we have a precise view of how your body is functioning.
Dr. Bentley will utilize the Gonstead system of analysis to assess joint mobility throughout your skeletal system (especially the spine). He will also examine areas of decreased motion and/or irritation to the nervous system.
If a part of your spine has reduced motion or nervous system irritation, Dr. Bentley will perform a precise adjustment targeting the area. The goal is to restore motion to the joint and improve symptoms caused by the lack of movement.
What patients say
Dr. Matt is simply the best! I’d never been to a chiropractor before, so I was a little nervous and unsure of what to expect. Dr. Matt listened carefully to my concerns and did a great job of explaining what he was doing and why at every step along the way so I understood what was happening. After one session, I felt immediate pain relief from back issues that had been bothering me so much I was having a hard time sitting still. After several sessions, I'm getting continuous improvement on a neck injury that i've had for years and years. I very highly recommend Dr. Matt, both for his super friendly and helpful manner, and for the results!
I have been seeing Dr. Bentley for a little over 6 months now and I have nothing but good things to say about his practice. I am a martial artist of 17 years, and I plan to continue practicing martial arts for the rest of my life. My goal is to keep my body healthy, so I can do my sport for as long as possible. Chiropractic care with Dr. Bentley has been hugely beneficial to my health in the last 6 months.
A main priority for me is to make sure I understand the treatment that my body is going through. Dr. Bentley is really great at explaining his technique, thought process, and the science behind it all. I feel that my body has responded really well over the last 6 months. Improvements that I have seen are decreased pain, increased mobility, and increased mind muscle connection. I feel that my body is less prone to injury lately, but I am also able to recover quicker if I do get a minor injury. Highly recommend adding Dr. Bentley to your health regimen!
Why the Gonstead Method works
The goal of the Gonstead method is to make a specific adjustment to correct the root cause of your problem - giving the body exactly what it needs without unnecessary extra adjustment.
Dr. Gonstead believed we should "Spend all the time necessary to... find and correct a patient's problem. Do not be in a hurry. Check and recheck your x-ray, your palpation, instrumentation.
The Gonstead method reflects more than a century of positive patient outcomes and detailed accounts. Dr. Gonstead was dedicated to improving patients lives - often spending 12+ hours per day in research and practice.
Patients will immediately notice that Gonstead chiropractors tailor care to the patient's circumstance. No two people will receive the same adjustment or nutrional advice, but will instead receive personalized advice.
